ABOUT US

Gracious Films are Nicola Caulfield & Anthony Caulfield a filmmaking team from London, England. 

We have written, produced and directed various acclaimed documentaries for theatrical, broadcast and commercial release, including ‘The Story of The Young Ones’, ‘Alternative Rebellion: The beginning of Britain’s Alternative Comedy Scene’, ‘Doctor Who - Stripped for Action’ for the BBC, as well as ‘George Michael – FAITH’ and ‘Jeff’s Wayne’s The War of the Worlds’ for Sony Music.

In addition we have made two documentaries on gypsy punk group ‘Gogol Bordello’ for Channel 4 and produced the celebrated world music TV series ‘Soundcheck at Momo’s’.  We have also worked with the rock band ‘Pink Floyd’ to produce theatrical and television versions of their film ‘Pulse’ and 'Dark Side of the Moon' which were distributed worldwide.

Then 2010 saw the release of our first feature film produced with Sony Music, ‘Immodesty Blaize – Burlesque Undressed’, which had a worldwide theatrical release and then later on DVD and terrestrial broadcast.

 

In addition to these projects we have always had a real passion to produce films that document the video games industry. In 2012 we we’re asked to produce the official Sonic the Hedgehog 20th Anniversary documentary titled ‘Sonic - The Birth of an Icon’ which was broadcast worldwide and we we’re also commissioned to produce the official 10th anniversary film on Virtua Tennis (Virtua Tennis - 10 Years Gone).


2012 also saw the release of our film ‘Hitman – Burning Hope’ an in-depth ‘fly on the wall documentary account of the production of ‘Hitman Absolution’ as well as our short film titled ‘Jet Set Radio – A Rude Awakening’ a retrospective look back at the iconic Sega Dreamcast game with the original creators and graffiti legend Eric Haze.

In 2014 we released 'From Bedrooms to Billions' the story of the UK video games industry from 1979 to the present day then in May 2016 we released the sequel 'From Bedrooms to Billions: The Amiga Years' and 2020 saw the completion of the trilogy with ‘From Bedrooms to Billions: The PlayStation Revolution’.

 

In 2024 we co-produced 'Games that Rock the World' with renowned documentary makers Talesmith who are a leading creative force in global TV, Film and immersive production. The show was commissioned by The Roku channel and is exec produced by Nicola Caulfield, Anthony Caulfield, Ruth Roberts and Martin Williams.

 

 

2024 was a very busy year as it also saw the release of our most recent film ‘The Rubber Keyed Wonder’ about Sir Clive Sinclair and the creation of the ZX Spectrum and we are currently in the final stages of production for ‘The Commodore Amiga 500 Story’ which is due for a summer 2025 release.
